"The greatest persecution of the church doesn't come from enemies on the outside but is born from the sins within the church," says Pope Benedict.

Yes, I couldn't agree more.

I attended the Mass of the Lord's Supper at St. John's. I have my Holy Thursday meal ready to prepare. Last year, I did a Passover theme and had roasted lamb (way more than I needed), endive (bitter herbs), matzo and red wine. I was pleased, even though I had to find creative ways to deal with the leftover lamb. It's nice to have lamb once in a while and I'm doing it again.

I have lamb chops this year, the endive, water crackers instead of matzo, and a Yellow Tail shiraz. I'm thinking of pan broiling the chops. The last time I used the oven broiler for lamb chops, they ignited thanks to the fat in the lamb.

I will finish watching my "Jesus of Nazareth" DVD. Let the Sacred Triduum begin.

More specifically, LOR, that Vatican publication the mass media loves to quote, loves them: http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/02/15/the-beatles-michael-jackson-and-u2-make-vatican-newspapers-list-of-best-albums-bob-dylan-snubbed/.

Hot damn! They picked two of my favorite albums. I notice The Doors didn't make the list, I guess there's no surprise there, hehe.

Now, this article says "the Vatican has previously denounced rock music as the devil’s work." Umm, when did they do that? Was there a Papal proclamation that I missed or something? I call BS on that bit of reporting. I don't think they made such a broad statement about a musical genre, although I do recall hearing they got into a tizzy over John Lennon's statement about being more popular than Jesus, but they got over it - several decades later.
