She eventually finds her cat. "All I saw initially was his fluffy black-and-whiteness. Score! But when 'Sylvester' turned to give me the full frontal, I was stunned. I had envisioned a normal cat, with a normal cat face. This one looked more like, well, Gizmo from the movie Gremlins."
All turns out well, though, when the cat crawls into her lap. "I melted like the wuss I was. Suddenly, he seemed flawless, quintessential."

"Okay, I've found a black-and-white cat for you," chirped the woman, a member of a pack of New Orleanians who took in strays. She'd been on the lookout for me since I saw her newspaper ad about a fresh batch of (all gray, it turned out) kittens.
