I have writer's block, and it sucks. It's probably because of all the family stuff going on over the last couple of months. I have also been woefully neglecting my reading and have several unfinished books that I haven't touched in weeks.
Instead, I've been re-watching my Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVDs. I have seasons one, four, six, and seven. Maybe I'm looking for inspiration. I've always maintained that Buffy contains some of the best writing around. It occurs to me, though, that I really don't like the direction the series took after it switched networks for the final two seasons. The creative talent was still there but it lost something. Season six was very dark and violent. I understand why, of course, and it made sense. Unfortunately, I found it less watchable. Season seven wrapped up the series and brought back some humor but it seemed very muddled and confused. If Buffy had ended after season five, I wouldn't have minded.
