Saved by the Cat

Aww, this was a cute essay. Two friends who have been arguing about the author's inattentive boyfriend rescue a wounded stray cat and bring it to a vet. In the process, they repair their friendship. The author ends up dumping the boyfriend. The cat finds a home, although not with either of them.

The essay works for me better than the previous one, even though neither one of them own the cat. The cat figures prominently in it as the focus of the action that ultimately leads them to become friends again.
